They grew up in the Philippines and immigrated to America in the '80s and so when they got here, I mean, they still wanted to impart a lot of their heritage and traditions on us so there was a little bit of a cultural gap including the – and also a generational gap — but they really did their best to make sure that I felt connected to their roots and know my roots, so I'm really grateful that we would celebrate the different holidays and I was also surrounded by some Asian communities.
